The Slovenian Third Age University

Specialized in older adult education, Slovenian Third Age University is a national not-for-profit educational network currently consisting of 46 U3As based in 44 localities. It was established back in 1984 upon an initiative of experts in adult education and university teachers of andragogy. Today about 21 000 students, more than 1000 mentors and more than 2000 volunteer animators are enrolled in study programmes. SU3A's practice has been extensively researched. SU3A provides education, development of educational programmes, development of structures for older people's exchange of knowledge and skills, research, guidance, advocacy and through them support to community local development. Main target groups are retired people, older workers and workers in the pre-retirement period. Other target groups are mentors specialists in the field, professionals dealing with older people, under graduate and post graduate students etc.

In CINAGE, Slovenian Third Age University will be leading WP 4 (running pilot actions) and WP8 (exploitation) and will conduct team work with other partners, run a reflection focus group, conduct research in active ageing and old age social stereotypes in European cinema, run pilots, carry out the final partner workshop and host the second and the fourth project steering meetings.
